Billings, the ovulation method
Welcome to the fertility awareness method — a natural, respectful approach to fertility that can help you better understand and anticipate the different phases of your menstrual cycle.
Daily observation
Each day, take a few moments to observe your cervical mucus. It is the natural substance produced by the cervix. Enter the sensation you feel when observing and your mucus observation between your fingers in the "Analyses" tab. These guidelines are aids to help you observe: the wetter the sensation and the more stretchy the mucus, the more fertile you are and the closer you are to your peak day (ovulation).
The colours
- Colour 1: days of menstruation, bleeding, or spotting (blood stains).
- Colour 2: days with no mucus and a sensation of dryness.
- Colour 3: days with mucus, indicating possible fertility. Also used the day after intercourse in the pre-ovulatory phase.
- Colour 4: for infertile days with unchanging secretion in the pre-ovulatory phase, or with secretion after the end of the fertile phase.
- No observation: If, for any reason or the day after intercourse, you cannot make an observation on a given day, use a question mark "?" to indicate the absence of observation.
Interpretation
Using your observations, follow the rules of the method to determine potential periods of fertility and infertility. You can then plan accordingly by avoiding intercourse during fertile periods if you wish to avoid pregnancy, or vice versa.
