Sensiplan

Sensiplan is a sympto-thermal method developed and refined in Germany since the 1980s by a working group dedicated to natural family planning (Malteser Arbeitsgruppe NFP). It's one of the most codified and most scientifically studied natural methods.

How it works

Like any sympto-thermal method, Sensiplan combines basal body temperature and cervical mucus (with cervix palpation as an optional third sign). What sets it apart is the precision of its calculation rules: strict, documented criteria determine, day by day, the start and end of the fertile window by cross-checking these signs — the "temperature rule" and the "mucus rule" are its pillars.

Key points

  • Structured teaching, delivered by counsellors trained under a standardised curriculum.
  • Precise, documented calculation rules that leave little room for individual interpretation.
  • One of the most studied natural methods: prospective follow-ups conducted in Germany over several thousand cycles have documented its reliability when followed correctly.
  • A need for consistency comparable to other sympto-thermal methods: temperature on waking and daily mucus observation.

Who is it for?

Sensiplan suits those looking for a highly structured, well-documented framework, with precise rules rather than a looser interpretation of cycle signs.

And with Happy Fertility?

The app supports sympto-thermal tracking, of which Sensiplan is a variant: log your temperature and mucus for the day to build your cycle calendar.
